Nella primavera del 2024, ho perso mio padre e mio fratello;
uno era atteso, l'altro no. Questo lavoro è nato subito dopo quel periodo difficile,
durante una residenza in Sardegna, in Italia. Durante questo periodo, mi sono dedicato alla
scrittura e alla fotografia, cercando di capire tutto ciò che era successo e di ritrovare
il mio equilibrio. Ero ancora sotto shock, cercavo di trovare il mio equilibrio, di riaffermarmi
in un mondo in cui sentivo i muri crollare. È l'intensità fisica di
questo senso di perdita che volevo catturare in queste fotografie e nei testi che
le accompagnano.

In the spring of 2024, I lost my father and my brother;
one was expected, the other was not. This work was born immediately after that difficult period,
during a residency in Sardinia, Italy. During this time, I devoted myself to
writing and photography, trying to understand everything that had happened and to regain
my balance. I was still in shock, trying to find my balance, to reaffirm myself
in a world where I felt the walls crumbling. It is the physical intensity of
this sense of loss that I wanted to capture in these photographs and the texts that
accompany them.

Sal Taylor Kydd è un'artista fotografica e scrittrice che vive nel Maine, il cui lavoro intreccia

Sal Taylor Kydd is a Maine-based photographic artist and writer whose work interweaves
photography, poetry, and alternative processes to explore themes of memory, belonging, and
the passage of time. Her fine art photographs have been exhibited extensively across the U.S.
and internationally, with notable exhibitions, LA, Paris, NY, Milan and London.
Taylor Kydd is the author of several artist books and in 2024, she was a finalist in the Critical Mass photography competition, Born in the
UK, she holds a BA in Modern Languages from Manchester University, and MFA in
Photography from Maine Media.
