Nelle parole dell'artista: "Sono seduto a tavola con gli altri commensali: il ritratto di una famiglia tradizionale: i genitori, la figlia che allatta suo figlio e il marito che la affianca.
Di questa famiglia io sono il figlio e fratello, zio e cognato.
Consumiamo il pranzo domenicale, tanto caro alla tradizione italiana.
Divento oggetto di scherno e bersaglio di insulti omotransfobici da parte degli altri famigliari.
Il momento conviviale tra i membri della famiglia diventa il luogo del martirio".

In the artist's words: "I am sitting at the table with the other guests: the portrait of a traditional family: the parents, the daughter who nurses her son and the husband next to her.
Of this family I am the son and brother, uncle and brother-in-law.
We eat Sunday lunch, so dear to Italian tradition.
I become the object of ridicule and the target of homophobic and transphobic insults from other family members.
The convivial moment between family members becomes the place of martyrdom".

Ruben Montini (Oristano, 1986) vive e lavora a Torino. Performance dopo performance, il corpo di Ruben Montini tende sempre di più a diventare un simulacro di segni e tracce di ciò che le persone LGBTQI+ soffrono ancora oggi all'interno della società contemporanea. Parallelamente alle sue azioni e alle sue opere tessili, Montini ha iniziato a produrre alcuni progetti collettivi in cui coinvolge il pubblico nella realizzazione di monumenti temporanei e di rituali che diventano memoriali effimeri per la minoranza della sua comunità.

Ruben Montini (Oristano, 1986) lives and works in Turin. Performance after performance, Ruben Montini’s body tends more and more to become a simulacrum of signs and traces of what LGBTQI+ people still suffer today within contemporary society. While developing his actions and his textile works, Montini has begun to produce some collective projects in which he strives to involve the public in the production of temporary monuments and rituals that become ephemeral memorials for the minority of his community.
