The exact circumstances surrounding how the picture came
about are unknown. Luis Barragán lived from 1902 to 1988. The
photograph was taken on the terrace of the Barragán House in
Mexico City.
Evelyn Hofer's portrait series includes a large number of artists, including Ed
Ruscha, Julian Schnabel, Pollock and Lee Krasner, Yayoi Kusama, Andy
Warhol, Georg Baselitz, and Balthus, to name but a few.

Formazione: La sua formazione fotografica è avvenuta durante il suo breve soggiorno in Svizzera: è diventata apprendista presso lo Studio Bettina di Zurigo e ha studiato con Robert Spreng e il Prof. Hans Finsler a Zurigo. Ha iniziato la sua carriera come fotografa freelance a New York e ha ottenuto i suoi primi incarichi nel campo della fotografia di moda per Harper's Bazaar all'inizio degli anni '50. A partire dagli anni '50 ha pubblicato libri su diverse città e paesi insieme a vari autori.

Education: Her photographic education took place during her short stay in Switzerland: She became an apprentice at the Studio Bettina in Zurich and studied under Robert Spreng and Prof. Hans Finsler in Zurich. She started her career as a freelance photographer in New York and obtained her first commissions in the field of fashion photography for Harper’s Bazaar in the early 1950s. Since the 1950s, she has published books on different cities and countries together with various authors.
