Nel 2008 Daido raggruppa una serie di polaroid dal titolo “Bye Bye polaroid” per salutare la casa produttrice
che ha interrotto la produzione di film istantaneo. Moriyama ha fotografato la città di Tokyo omaggiando uno
strumento che ha usato in modo inesorabile per molti anni.
Coloratissime e pop, ammantate dalla patina del tempo, mostrano un altro lato delle strade giapponesi, dove Daido
si aggira fumando i panorami e gli odori della città. Vialetti, cartelloni pubblicitari, poster, display commerciali e
pedoni...il mondo di Moriyama che hai visto in monocromia diventa a colori nelle sue polaroid

In 2008, Daido compiled a series of Polaroids entitled “Bye Bye Polaroid” to bid farewell to the manufacturer
that had discontinued production of instant film. Moriyama photographed the city of Tokyo, paying homage to a
tool he had used relentlessly for many years.
Colorful and pop, cloaked in the patina of time, they show another side of Japanese streets, where Daido
wanders around smoking the sights and smells of the city. Alleys, billboards, posters, commercial displays, and
pedestrians...the world of Moriyama that you saw in monochrome becomes colorful in his Polaroids.

Daidō Moriyama (Ikeda, 10 ottobre 1938) è un fotografo giapponese, considerato uno dei maggiori esponenti della fotografia di street photography. Tra i lavori per cui è più famoso c’è Eros, pubblicato nel 1969 sulla rivista giapponese Provoke, che mostra le immagini di una notte trascorsa con una amante in una stanza d’albergo. Ha inoltre esposto le sue opere in musei e gallerie di tutto il mondo, fra i quali la Tate Modern di Londra, il MoMA di San Francisco, il Metropolitan Museum of Art di New York e la Fondation Cartier di Parigi.

Daidō Moriyama (Ikeda, October 10, 1938) is a Japanese photographer considered one of the leading exponents of street photography. Among his most famous works is Eros, published in 1969 in the Japanese magazine Provoke, which shows images of a night spent with a lover in a hotel room. He has also exhibited his work in museums and galleries around the world, including the Tate Modern in London, the MoMA in San Francisco, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Fondation Cartier in Paris.
