“Chasing Fog” è un progetto in corso che esplora l'amore, la perdita e ciò che vive nel mezzo. Esamina l'energia invisibile e le narrazioni non dette - il desiderio, la speranza, il rimpianto, l'attesa e il dolore - che indugiano tra le parole e sotto la superficie. Attraverso l'autoritratto e lo still life, esprimo ciò che il cuore sente all'interno delle mie esperienze e creo visivamente ciò che può essere difficile da articolare verbalmente. Uso una macchina fotografica vintage Polaroid SX-70 con pellicola in bianco e nero, sbiadita e ingiallita dal tempo. Ad alcune immagini sono state aggiunte delle cuciture per esplorare.

“Chasing Fog” is an ongoing project exploring love, loss, and what lives in-between them. It examines the unseen energy and unspoken narratives- longing, desire, hope, regret, anticipation and grief that linger between words and underneath the surface. Through self-portraiture and still life, I express what the heart hears inside my own experiences and create visually what can be difficult to articulate verbally.
I use a vintage Polaroid SX-70 camera with black-and-white film, faded and yellowed over time. Stitching has been added to some images to further explore the feeling.

Catherine Just is a Los Angeles-based visual artist whose work explores the connection between the metaphysical and emotional realms. Her art practice reflects a deep curiosity about the human condition—focusing on relationships, connection, intimacy, love, loss, and the space in-between words.
Catherine holds a BFA in Conceptual Photography, Film, and Video from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and apprenticed with Miguel Ruiz, Toltec Teacher from Mexico and author of The Four Agreements. Both experiences are integral to her artistic approach.
