Trusty concentra il proprio sguardo su chi osserva l’arte: fotografa i visitatori nei musei, mentre si muovono, si fermano o si perdono davanti ai capolavori. Non è l’opera il soggetto principale, ma ciò che le accade intorno. Le sue immagini raccontano quel momento sospeso tra attenzione e distrazione, tra presenza e assenza, in cui ogni spettatore diventa parte integrante della scena, spesso senza saperlo. Il suo approccio è fortemente realistico, un verismo che si esprime sia nella scelta dei soggetti sia nell’uso evocativo, quasi cinematografico, della luce.

Trusty focuses his gaze on those who observe art: he photographs museum visitors as they move, pause, or lose themselves in front of masterpieces. The work itself is not the primary subject, but what happens around it. His images capture that moment suspended between attention and distraction, between presence and absence, in which each viewer becomes an integral part of the scene, often unknowingly. His approach is strongly realistic, a verism that is expressed both in his choice of subjects and in his evocative, almost cinematic, use of light.

Alex Trusty è nato nel 1967 a Roma. Nel 2021 espone la serie “Naples sense of Place” al Pan, Palazzo delle Arti di Napoli, e successivamente al Museo Archeologico Nazionale. Nel 2022 la mostra viene ospitata a Palazzo delle Stelline a Milano. Nel 2023, allestisce la personale “Jordan, close and far away” a Villa Pomini a Castellanza. Nel 2024, Palazzo Reale di Milano gli dedica la grande mostra “Contemporary Museum Watching”, con oltre sessanta opere dedicate al rapporto tra arte e osservatore. Tra il 2024 e il 2025, le Collezioni Comunali d'Arte dei Musei Civici di Bologna ospitano la personale “Contemporary Museum Watching”.

Alex Trusty was born in 1967 in Rome. In 2021, he exhibited his series "Naples Sense of Place" at the PAN, Palazzo delle Arti in Naples, and subsequently at the National Archaeological Museum. In 2022, the exhibition was hosted at Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan. In 2023, he held the solo exhibition "Jordan, Close and Far Away" at Villa Pomini in Castellanza. In 2024, Palazzo Reale in Milan dedicated the major exhibition "Contemporary Museum Watching" to him, featuring over sixty works dedicated to the relationship between art and the observer.
