In Reprises, l’artista tenta di ricostruire la storia della propria famiglia di origine italiana, emigrata in Argentina alla fine del XIX secolo. I suoi bisnonni facevano parte della grande ondata migratoria italiana diretta verso l’America Latina. Un secolo dopo, l’artista ha vissuto un’esperienza simile, sebbene in direzione opposta: ha lasciato l’Argentina per trasferirsi in Francia.

In Reprises, the artist attempted to reconstruct the history of his family of Italian origin, who emigrated to Argentina at the end of the 19th century. His great-grandparents were part of the great wave of Italian migrants who left for Latin America. A century later, the artist had a similar experience, although his journey was in the opposite direction: he left Argentina for France.

Alejandro Erbetta è artista, docente e teorico della fotografia. La sua ricerca artistica affronta fenomeni contemporanei quali la memoria e la ricostruzione delle storie, l’identità e la migrazione, la storia individuale e collettiva, l’immaginazione e la finzione. Attraverso un approccio multidisciplinare (fotografia e scrittura), mette in relazione creazione e ricerca, stabilendo connessioni tra dimensione individuale e collettiva. Il suo lavoro è stato esposto in Europa, Asia e America Latina, sia in mostre personali sia collettive.

Alejandro Erbetta is an artist, teacher and photography theorist. His artistic research addresses current phenomena such as memory and the reconstruction of histories, identity and migration, individual and collective history, imagination and fiction. Through a multidisciplinary approach (photography and writing), he links creation to research and estab- lishes connections between the individual and the collective. His artistic work has been exhibited in Europe, Asia and Latin America, both individually and collectively.
